Hotels

There are three reasonable options for hotels for out-of-town guests, two in Oakland and one in Berkeley. The Waterfront Hotel is in Jack London Square in Oakland, the Marriott City Center is near the civic center in downtown Oakland, and the Claremont Hotel and Spa is in the Berkeley Hills. Each has advantages and disadvantages; we suggest the Waterfront Hotel as the best option overall and assume most guests will be staying there.

The Waterfront Hotel

This is in Jack London Square on the waterfront. We have reserved a block of rooms with views of the water at a special rate for the wedding. (It is important to book rooms on the water side of the hotel, as the other side can be noisy due to trains which run through Jack London Square.) To book from the reserved block of rooms use the link below. You can choose whatever dates you would like between December 6th and 13th; additional dates can be added at the regular rate. Note that the cut-off for this block is November 20th, 2009.

Waterfront Hotel Steele/Levine Wedding Reservations

General information about the hotel can be found here. There are a number of restaurants in the area, as well as a cinema and bookstore. There is more to do in the immediate vicinity of the hotel than there is near the Marriott, but it is harder to get to and from the airports and San Francisco from this hotel. The hotel is located near a ferry service, which can take you across the bay to San Francisco. Information on the ferry service can be found here.

 

MARRIOT CITY CENTER

The Marriott City Center adjacent to the Civic Center. It is very close to BART and thus it is easy to get to San Francisco and either the San Francisco airport (directly) or the Oakland Airport (via a shuttle bus from the Coliseum BART station). We are currently negotiating a block rate for this hotel, which should be the same or somewhat less than the Waterfront Hotel. If you plan to stay here, we suggest you book rooms at the regular rate and we will post more information about the discounted rate soon. Claremont Hotel CLUB and Spa

The Claremont is in Berkeley, roughly five miles from Lake Merritt in Oakland. There is little public transportation, so a car will most likely be needed if you are staying here. It is somewhat more expensive than the other two options, and we do not have a group discount at this time. It is in a very nice area in Berkeley, but there is not a lot within walking distance.
